The Umoⁿhoⁿ Language and Culture Preservation Department was initiated through a Tribal Resolution #23-54 that stated:
“WHEREAS; the Omaha Tribal Council seeks to expand the Omaha Tribe of Nebraska’s organizational structure by developing, adopting, and embedding an Omaha Culture and Language Preservation Department for the purposes of preserving and protecting the traditional culture and language of the Umoⁿhoⁿ people; and,
WHEREAS; the Omaha Culture and Language Preservation Department will develop and implement services and activities designed to teach, enhance the knowledge of, and to influence the use of Umoⁿhoⁿ cultural traditions, practices, and language.”
