Shoⁿga Ska
What is Shoⁿga Ska?
Shoⁿga Ska is an Equine Assisted Prevention/Promotion Program focused on learning and healing with horses. The program was designed to assist Native relatives who may be dealing with trauma, life challenges, or personal struggles.
Sho’ga Ska focuses on ground-work activities with horses, helping participants build confidence, overcome fears, and develop skills to navigate emotions in a healthy way. Through guided interaction with horses, individuals are encouraged to step outside their comfort zone and experience personal growth in a supportive environment.
Horses play a powerful role in the healing process. They are more than animals — they act as teachers, mirrors, and bridges, helping participants reflect, learn, and strengthen their sense of self. Horses have a unique ability to create a therapeutic and healing environment that supports emotional awareness and personal development.
Why Horses?
Horses are more than animals. They serve as teachers, mirrors, and bridges, helping individuals better understand themselves and their emotions. Through interaction with horses, participants learn awareness, patience, and trust in a natural and supportive way.
Horses have the ability to create a therapeutic and healing environment that encourages reflection and personal growth. Their presence helps strengthen people and supports emotional balance through calm, grounded interaction.
“Horses are the best teachers and healers.”
Our Approach
Equine Assisted Learning
Shoⁿga Ska uses Equine Assisted Learning as an approach to personal development. This method utilizes horses to facilitate skill building through hands-on, experiential learning.
Participants engage in ground-based activities with horses that encourage learning through observation, interaction, and reflection. These activities help individuals develop confidence, emotional awareness, and practical skills they can apply to everyday life.
The program creates opportunities for participants to step outside their comfort zones, try something new, and grow in a supportive and respectful environment.
