The Victim Assistance Program

This program is funded through a grant from the Department of Justice-OVC. The Omaha Tribe’s Victim Assistance Program focuses on addressing domestic violence, child and elder abuse, sexual assault as well as teen dating violence and sexual exploitation of youth. The Hu Ugine Project design includes a planning and implementation approach. Under the Hu Ugine Project, “prevention activities” will be limited to providing awareness about the impacts of crime victimization, awareness/education about the different types of crime (DV/SA/ Stalking/ Assault, robbery, etc.) and identifying who are crime victims; and education about victim’s rights and services available to victims on the Reservation.
